Disaster at the Dump!

What if municipalities and haulers were prepared to address salvageable materials after a natural disaster instead of relegating everything to the dump? From recovering still-functioning appliances and car parts to restoring furniture and deconstructing homes over demolishing them, local governments can work with residents and businesses in diverting materials from landfills. While city planning and budgeting are key, education and empowerment are urgent for implementation.

About Stacy Savage

Stacy Savage, AKA “The Texas Trash Talker”, was born and raised on the Gulf Coast where both her parents worked at oil refineries. She personally understands disaster awareness & preparedness, as she has luckily escaped the impacts of multiple hurricanes over the course of her upbringing.

Stacy has been a “recycling nerd” for 20 years and played a pivotal role in passing 2 key pieces of statewide legislation requiring free, responsible manufacturer recycling of computers (2007) and televisions (2011).

In 2013, Mrs. Savage founded Zero Waste Strategies LLC, an environmental consulting firm that works with businesses, government agencies, and institutions to reduce waste for increased revenue, deeper customer loyalty, employee empowerment, and a green marketing edge. Her clients include Dell, AT&T, Nestle’ Purina, and Kohler Co.

Stacy is certified as a TRUE Advisor through the US Green Building Council and volunteers as a business mentor through the Austin Young Chamber.
