FDOT Emergency Response to Hurricane Ian - Debris Removal and Emergency Repairs

FDOT misslon is that department will provide a safe transportation system. Hurricane Ian was a major Impact to that State of Florida. FDOT responded immediately deploying teams for inspections, debris removal and emergency repairs. This presentation will overview FDOT Emergency Management and the efforts our department accomplished in the 2022 hurricane season.

Crystal Schaefer is the District Emergency Management Specialist for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT District 6. She has been with the department since February 2020

FDOT Emergency Management provides expertise, programs and services to help the department prepare for, respond to, recover from and mitigate against natural disasters and other emergencies affecting the agency and Florida''s intermodal transportation systems.

FDOT is a critical element of the Florida State Emergency Response Team (SERT) and is the lead agency for two SERT Emergency Support Functions: ESF 1 transportation and ESF3 Public Works and Engineering.
