Heather Henderson-Scheu, a lifelong Suwannee County resident, is a dedicated public servant with a strong background in finance and emergency management. She began working at 16 and rose through the banking industry to become an Assistant Branch Manager. After nine years as a bookkeeper at Suwannee High School, she served as Finance Director for the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office. In 2023, she transitioned to emergency management, leading Suwannee County through five major disasters as Incident Commander and Public Information Officer. Heather holds a Florida Associate of Emergency Management certification and is pursuing her degree in Emergency Management at South College, maintaining a 4.0 GPA while working full-time. She was honored with the Wellborn Masonic Lodge’s first-ever Community Member Award and is a nominee for the Hometown Hero Award, to be announced at a gala in January. Heather is a proud mother of two grown children and grandmother to a joyful 4-year-old girl.
